Rateb is a senior associate in S-RM's Corporate Intelligence team in London. First joining S-RM in 2021, he has extensive experience covering and leading complex due diligence investigations in the Middle East and North Africa. Rateb specialises in work surrounding sanctions exposure in the MENA region, and the intersection of business and human rights, and his work has included investigations into various sectors in the Middle East including shipping, oil and gas, financial services, agriculture and healthcare, and various conflict zones in the Middle East, including Syria and Yemen.
Prior to joining S-RM, Rateb worked at the United Nations Economic and Social Comission on Western Asia on a one of a kind programme that did research on post-conflict reconstruction and policy in Syria, and at a sanctions and human rights-focused NGO, conducting open source and human intelligence investigations into sanctions violations and evasion techniques. Rateb holds a BA in Political Science form the American University of Beirut, and an MA in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
