Corporate Social Responsibility
Each year the regional offices in S-RM vote to support three local charities. Employees engage in various fundraising activities with donations matched by the company as well as offering in-kind contributions and volunteering.
The London office elected to support St Mungo’s in their mission to see that everyone has a place to call home. The organisation works to end homelessness by providing housing, skills development and linking clients to the correct services for their physical and mental wellbeing. Tom Crooke from our Business Intelligence unit abseiled down the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower in October, whilst Katharine Davenport took part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Our legal counsel Johnny Brooke is currently in training to run the London Marathon in April 2017.

The team in Cape Town voted to support the South African arm of the Big Issue Foundation. So far the office has held a successful bake sale, Christmas raffle and is set for a cricket tournament next year. The Big Issue provides an opportunity to marginalised adults to become entrepreneurs through the selling of the magazine. The foundation supports them on their way to financial independence through the provision of caseworkers, counselling and further education programmes.

Rio de Janeiro
Our Rio office decided on Luta Pela Paz (Fight for Peace) as their charity of the year. Luta Pela Paz is headquartered in Maré, a favela in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and combines boxing and martial arts with education and personal development for young people in communities affected by crime and violence. The Rio office helped out with a Christmas party for the kids involved in the programme in Maré centre on 15 December and will continue to hold regular fundraising events throughout the year.
